The International Cricket Council (ICC) Judicial Commissioner Michael Beloff QC on Friday dismissed Sri Lanka Captain Dinesh Chandimal’s appeal against his one-match ban, over unlawfully changing the condition of the ball, imposed by ICC Match Referee Javagal Srinath.

A media release said that the four demerit points Chandimal received are to also stay on Chandimal’s disciplinary record and such points are to remain on the player’s disciplinary record for a period of 24 months following which they will be expunged.

Sri Lankan authorities were seeking Friday nearly a dozen men who beat a leopard to death after it strayed into a village and attacked people, a minister said.

Wildlife deputy minister Palitha Thewarapperuma said police were deployed to arrest those responsible for Thursday’s animal killing, which was captured on mobile phones and shared on social media.

"It is sickening to see these images," Thewarapperuma told parliament. "We are taking action to arrest all those responsible for this extreme cruelty."

We’ve told you before that this slimy actor/director has made some of the women on his set extremely uncomfortable.

Here’s another one.

There is a young actress who comes from a very famous acting family spanning several generations. You might not know her, but you definitely know her family.

A couple of years ago, just as she was starting her career, she worked on a small film with Slimy. She was over 18, but still approximately half his age. The part was so small that it was uncredited. She was flattered when he offered her a part in a second project. It was another small film but he gave her a bigger role… and started paying a lot of attention to her.

Meanwhile, the failure on the part of some JO stalwarts to back the party nominee, Katana lady who ran for the Deputy Speaker’s post has added a new dimension to the internal dissention.

This issue had triggered a heated discussion at a high-level meeting of the party held last Tuesday at which the former strongman had launched a tirade against the party seniors who had failed to pull their weight in favor of the party nominee.

President Maithripala Sirisena expressed reservations yesterday over the huge profits recorded annually by state banks established to serve the local industries, the agriculture sector and save the rural people from loan sharks.

He questioned whether the state banks served the purported objectives laid down when they were established by collecting 100% profits or more annually.

Delivering the keynote address at the launching of the ‘Entrepreneurs Paradise Loan Scheme – Enterprise Sri Lanka’ under the ‘Gamperaliya’ Rural Development Project at the BMICH last afternoon, President Sirisena went onto say that time was right to carry out a survey to determine the contribution that had been made by state owned commercial banks to expand and develop the rural economy and domestic industries.

An Australian mother and her daughter have died following a motor accident near 65th-kilometre post along the Southern Expressway.

The accident had occurred at around 5 am.

A van which was heading towards Galle had collided with a container which was parked on the roadside due to a mechanical issue.

Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal will miss his side's third Test against the West Indies after being found guilty of ball tampering on Tuesday. Chandimal was found guilty of changing the condition of the ball during the second day's play of the second Test, which concluded at Gros Islet on Monday. He was given two suspension points and fined 100 percent of his match fee, the International Cricket Council announced in a statement. The points equate to a ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whatever comes first. Chandimal will now miss the day/night Barbados Test, starting from Saturday

"It is clear that Dinesh Chandimal applied an artificial substance to the ball, namely saliva containing the residue of something he had in his mouth, an action which is prohibited under the ICC Code of Conduct," said match referee Javagal Srinath after the judgement.
